Course & Credit

To accommodate the personal learning and work needs of graduate students, the program allows for flexible study over a period of two to four years. The minimum required credits for graduation are 30 credits (including 6 credits for the thesis).

  • Required credits: 12 credits
  • Elective credits: 12 credits
  • Please refer to the website for the list of required and elective courses.
  • Cell Biology is a compulsory elective but is a core course for the department. Students must retake it if they fail.
  • Molecular Biology is a required elective course.

To ensure course quality, students must consult with their advisor each semester to decide on courses to take, and the advisor will approve the graduation credits.

  • A maximum of 4 credits for summer courses will be recognized.

After passing the Master's thesis oral exam, students will earn 6 credits for the thesis. After submitting the Master's thesis, students will be awarded the Master's degree.

Grading:

  • The grades for all courses (calculated in the same way as undergraduate grades) and the thesis exam are on a scale of 100, with 70 being the passing grade.
  • Students who do not achieve a score of 70 or above will not receive credits.
  • If students fail required courses, they cannot retake exams but must retake the course.
  • The passing grade for behavior and conduct is 70.

Calculation of semester academic average:

  • The grade for each subject is multiplied by the number of credits for that subject to get the weighted score.
  • The total weighted score is divided by the total credits to calculate the semester average.
  • The semester average includes grades for failed courses.

Graduation score calculation:

  • The graduation score is the average of the academic average and the degree exam score.

Graduate students will be expelled if any of the following conditions occur:

  1. Failing to complete the required courses and credits by the end of the study period.
  2. Failing the degree exam and not passing after a retake.
  3. Violating university regulations or engaging in illegal or improper conduct during their studies, which may result in expulsion or other appropriate sanctions based on the severity of the situation.
  4. Failing to meet the standards required by the advisor during the study period.
